Seoul
Cinema is located in Jongno which is downtown Seoul. It has a 25-year history
after the opening in 1978. It now has seven screens, and was the first domestic
theater to enlarge into three screens and become a multiplex theater in Korea.
Seoul Cinema is called one of the main theaters due to its strong influence in
deciding the success of movies. Here autograph events and movie premiers with
stars attending are occasionally held. If you are lucky, you can actually meet
the actors and actresses who star in the premiering movies. Seoul Cinema is also
called the Mecca of Korean Movies since a large portion of the movies shown here
are Korean movies.
There is a square in front of the Cinema where people can
get together. Beside the movie, you can enjoy the food from the vendors lined
up on the street. They sell squid, fried leather fish, fried potatoes and other
interesting and delicious things. When you are hungry, you can also go to the
fast food restaurants, stands and ice-cream shops inside the theater. There is
a large lounge on the 4th floor in case you get tired. When you want to drink
coffee, you can go next door to the espresso cafes. After the movie you can easily
go to other places since Jongno has convenient transportation. Just walk down
to Jongno 1(il)-ga, and you can experience the upper side of downtown of Seoul.
