The Yongsan Seminary
was built in 1892 and the Wonhyoro Cathedral shortly
thereafter in 1902. Both were designed by a French
Priest named Cost and built by workers from the
Ching Empire of China with bricks baked in the
Royal Pottery-Baking Oven in Waseo-hyun,Youngsan-bang.Yongsan
Seminary is the first seminary to be established
in Korea and the first western architectural building.
It is a Georgian-style
brick building with rounded arch windows and majestically
decorated interiors. The Wonhyoro Cathedral is
a Gothic building with pointed arch windows and
a small tower on the roof.
