As a shrine symbolic of the residents' shamanist
beliefs, Seobinggo Bugundang was designated as
No. 2 Folk Resource by the City of Seoul on January
26, 1973. Many aspects of this shrine indicate
that it was built in 1635, providing a significant
resource for studying shamanism.

Dongbinggo
Bugundang
Presumed to have been built approximately 400
years ago, this shrine houses the spirits of Dankun
Grandfather and Grandmother. Commemorative ceremony
for these spirits begin at 7:30 a.m. on the New
Year's Day by lunar calendar.

Itaewon
Bugundang
Housing a total of 12 statues of Bugun spirits,
this shrine serves Bugun as the custodian of the
village. Residents pray for the health and piece
of the Itaewon residents in April and October
by lunar calendar.

Sanchun-dong
Bugundang
This is a shrine where residents prayed for no
casualty from Han River. Recently, this shrine
celebrates the festivities of the spirits with
other Bugundang, primarily because it houses the
spirit of the first wife of the General Namyi.

Bokwang-dong
Muhumyo
Referred to as Muhumyo because this shrine houses
Jegalgongmyong. There is another theory that it
is so called because a Chinese merchant passed
by this area to enter into the market in the past.
Residents perform the ceremony on October 1st
and March 1st.
